چکیده
Methods Inclusion criteria were an expected length of stay in the ICU of at least 72h, age ≥ 18 years, and availability of informed consent given by patient or legal proxy. Sensors were inserted into subcutaneous tissue of the patient’s thigh, quantifying interstitial glucose concentration based on glucose oxidase reaction. Measurements were collected for up to 72h, while calibrations took place every eight hours, as recommended by the manufacturer. Arterial blood glucose (BG) values determined by blood gas analyzer Radiometer ABL800 were used as reference. Accuracy was illustrated in Clarke-error-grid and Bland-AltmanPlot. Non-parametric tests were performed (MannWhitney U Test and Spearman ́s Correlation). Ethic vote Charité EA2/095/14.

Accuracy of a subcutaneous continuous glucose monitor compared with an intravenous continuous glucose monitor in an intensive care unit
Introduction Blood glucose management is important in the intensive care unit (ICU). Although we have used an intravenous continuous glucose monitor for blood glucose management to avoid hypoglycemia, there has been a problem with interruption of blood glucose measurement caused by blood removal failure [1]. A previous study reported that a subcutaneous continuous glucose monitor was reliable f...

cial in subgroups of inten sive care unit (ICU) patients, but may harm other sub groups. Th is harm may be due to hypoglycemic events. In avoiding hypoglycemia, an accurate bedside glucometry method is essential [1]. Bridges and colleagues therefore evaluated the accuracy of a continuous subcutaneous glucose monitoring system (CGMS) in critically ill children, and concluded that the system prov...
متن کاملReal-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring Shows High Accuracy within 6 Hours after Sensor Calibration: A Prospective Study
Accurate and timely glucose monitoring is essential in intensive care units. Real-time continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS) has been advocated for many years to improve glycemic management in critically ill patients. In order to determine the effect of calibration time on the accuracy of CGMS, real-time subcutaneous CGMS was used in 18 critically ill patients. CGMS sensor was calibrated ...
متن کاملPerformance of the Medtronic Sentrino continuous glucose management (CGM) system in the cardiac intensive care unit
BACKGROUND Maintaining glucose in the target range, while avoiding hypoglycemia, is challenging in critically ill patients. We investigated the performance and safety of Medtronic Sentrino, a newly developed continuous glucose management (CGM) system for critically ill adults. METHODS This was a prospective, single-center, single-arm, open-label study in adult patients with cardiac ICU admiss...

BACKGROUND Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) has not yet been implemented in the intensive care unit (ICU) setting. The purpose of this study was to evaluate reliability, feasibility, nurse acceptance and accuracy of the Medtronic Sentrino(®) CGM system in critically ill patients. METHODS Sensors were inserted into the subcutaneous tissue of the patient's thigh, quantifying interstitial glu...
